We have never had so many tools to work faster.
And still, many organizations feel just as slow as before.
Emails are written in seconds. Meetings are summarized automatically. Reports appear with a single prompt. Everyone feels more productive.
But feeling and being are not the same thing.
More output, same outcome
When a task becomes easier, we tend to do more of it. More documents, more slides, more messages. The volume grows, but is the value following?.
Someone still has to read what was generated. Someone has to check it, correct it, and decide what to do with it. The effort did not disappear. It moved.
A faster step inside a slow process is still a slow process.
Redesign, not just adopt
Technology rarely changes an organization by itself. It changes the individual task. The organization only changes when we rethink how work flows between people, teams and decisions.
Comfort comes with uncomfortable questions. Which reports does nobody read? Which approvals add no value? Which meetings exist only because they always have?
We can go faster, but it doesn’t mean we are adding value to the organization per se.
Productivity was never about being busy. It was about moving what matters.
